Today Freeman is buying me lunch at the Golden Palace Chinese restaurant in downtown Stockton. It is located two blocks from where we used to work and often ate here together back when we were employed. But it has been 10 years since I retired and it has been a few years since I have been to the Golden Palace. Holden is also joining us for lunch.

The food has always been pretty good here. But I think that it reminds me of my working years which is probably the reason that I have not been here in a long time.

It is actually a very cold, windy and rainy day today. The restaurant does not have many people walking in from our old office buildings. So it is relatively empty. We had gotten there at 11:40 AM to beat the lunch crowd but it seems no one wanted to leave the office buildings today.
Holden and Freeman eating their corn soup

My lunch is the Chinese Beef Stew which is a braised brisket with bok choy

Holden has the Beef Chow Fun

Freeman splurges and has the Short Ribs in a modified sweet and sour sauce

My dish was the cheapest at $6.25 and Freeman's the most expensive at $8.00.
The guys are still eating away

There are two Special Boards along the wall besides their regular printed menu

Tonight we will have two tables of about 10 each. One table is for the hardcore Chinese food and the other is for the more normal Chinese cuisine.

Dennis is even later than Ken.
And Alice is the last one to show.
Grandma eats her salad.
This is Patti's bento.

Al takes a mouthful. Frances has her fried rice.
Molly has the teriyaki salmon.
Ken has the salmon katsu and shrimp tempura bento.
Mary Ellen and Jim are wondering what Molly just said.
After much b.s. We leave for home.
Jim has the 1956 Edison Hi Lite.

Molly asks Grandma something while Ken kibitzes.
A couple of hams :-)
